We conceptualised this research as part of our pioneering Political Engagement, Literacy, and Public Office Leadership Program (PELPOL) and approached the academics to conduct this study.

Researchers say members of the growing Chinese and South Asian communities could be more susceptible to disinformation because of lower political literacy among newer migrants.
Advocates argue that the democratic process needs to be more accessible for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
What’s next?
With the next federal election to be held by May 2025, experts say more needs to be done to promote civic education and ensure people are making an informed choice.
